NEW ENGLAND: GENEALOGICAL NOTES OF NEW YORK AND NEW ENGLAND FAMILIES. SEBASTIAN V. TALCOTT. CD-WIN/MACAuthor: S.V. Talcott, compiler
Pages: 827
Pub. Date: (1883) 2008
Talcott has compiled extensive accounts of twenty-eight New York families and twenty-four New England families, tracing multiple lines of descent for each family from colonial times into the late nineteenth century, based on a wide range of sources, including especially Bible and death records.
The family accounts are presented in standard genealogical form, with abstracts of wills for many of the early generations and substantial biographical data for the eighteenth and nineteenth centruy individuals. Those family members who served in the military are especially well documented.
Most of the New York families covered in this volume are of Dutch descent, with heavy emphasis on settlers of Albany and vicinity. Many of the New England families included here were residents of the Connecticut River Valley towns of Connecticut.
The New York section is followed by a collection of transcripts of several dozen Bible records and a book of records of burials in Albany from 1722 to 1757. The volume concludes with separate every-name indexes for the New York and the New England sections.
