Family Archives CD #23
The Pilgrims, those redoubtable figures of early American history and legend,
arrived in New England between 1620 and 1650 and are believed to be the
ancestors of about one-third of all Americans living today! This is a big
statement, but perhaps it explains why there is so much interest in the Pilgrim
Fathers and why so many books have been written about them. From William
Bradford and Edward Winslow to John Winthrop and Increase Mather, an entire
library has grown up around them, and no small part of this literary
contribution has a genealogical component. Already several CDs have appeared
which place particular emphasis on Mayflower genealogy, among them Mayflower
Vital Records, Deeds, and Wills, by Susan Roser, and Genealogies of
Mayflower Families from The New England Historical and Genealogical Register.
In addition, at least one other CD covers a wider spectrum of early New England
genealogy, namely, the Genealogical Dictionary of New England, by notable
authors such as James Savage and Walter G. Davis.
This present Family Archive CD, Pilgrim Genealogies and Histories,
complements the CDs mentioned above and contains many of the most important
books ever compiled on Pilgrims and their descendants, rendering it a formidable
library in itself. Linked by a single electronic name index, the following books
are now instantly accessible on this one outstanding CD:
*The English Ancestry and Homes of the Pilgrim Fathers, by Charles Banks
*The Planters of the Commonwealth . . . 1620-1640, by Charles Banks
