|CD: CALENDAR OF NEW JERSEY WILLS Volumes 1-3|
This CD-ROM contains electronic image reprints of the following three essential volumes of New Jersey genealogical data: Calendar of New Jersey Wills, Vol. I, 1670-1730, ed. by William Nelson (1901), Calendar of New Jersey Wills, Vol. II, 1730-1750, ed. by A. Van Doren Honeyman (1918) and Calendar of New Jersey Wills, Vol. III, 1751-1760, ed. by A. Van Doren Honeyman (1924). Each volume in this series contains abstracts of wills, administrations, and guardianships. The abstracts of the wills and administrations were taken from the originals in the office of the Secretary of State; included are many unrecorded wills and inventories. There are complete, human-generated, name and place indexes in each volume. In addition, Volume 1 includes an extensive essay on probate practices in early New Jersey which genealogists will find informative. The books are presented as graphic images, so the user sees the works just as they were originally published. They are intended to look and function very much like "real" books, i.e., the user looks for entries of interest in the table of contents or index, and then turns to the page cited and scans it for the desired information. Numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to navigate through the books and indexes, and to jump from one book to another. This CD uses the powerful Adobe Acrobat viewer which is included on the CD for Windows and Macintosh operating systems. This CD is best viewed with monitor resolution 800x600 or higher.
